Every year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, fans can usually expect a number of awesome collaboration stages involving a number of the attending artists. For this year's scheduled Japan MAMAs event, there's a very special collab in the works that will surely please both K-pop and J-pop fans!
In a press conference held to the upcoming 2017 MAMAs, Mnet director Kim Ki Woong announced that for the November 29 MAMA event in Japan, there will be special collaboration stage involving I.O.I and AKB48.
Kim Ki Woong explained that this collaboration was perfect for the 2017 MAMAs Japan event because “AKB48 has been promoting for over 10 years in Japan as a national idol group. Their members are selected by votes, which is something they have in common with ‘Produce 101,’ which is why this collaboration stage was prepared.”
At the time of writing, it is not confirm which I.O.I members are participating, though Kim Ki Woong did tease that additional collaboration stages between a number of Korean artists are also in the works.
We're totally 100% in for this I.O.I and AKB48 MAMA Japan collab, but we do have one question: where are they gonna get a stage big enough for all the members from both groups?
