It was kinda of expected that BTS' "MIC Drop" remix with Steve Aoki and Desiigner would be a big hit when it was released, but we suspect that the boys didn't expect it to be the history-making hit it has already become!
For the week of December 16, "MIC Drop" has managed to enter the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at a super impressive No.28, which snaps BTS' previous Hot 100 peak benchmark of No.67 set by "DNA." Not only is this the highest charting Hot 100 single by any K-pop group, but this also gives BTS their first ever top 40 hit on the chart.
The only other K-pop act to chart higher on the hot 100 is PSY, who managed to hit No.2, No.5, and No.26 with "Gangnam Style," Gentleman," and "Hangover" respectively.
Beyond the Hot 100, "MIC Drop" is also a hit on a number of other Billboard charts. BTS' latest single has managed to enter the Digital Song Sales chart at No.4 (which tops their previous best of No.37 set by "DNA"), and No.47 on the Streaming Songs chart.
This is an incredible accomplishment to say the least and fans have taken to Twitter to celebrate BTS' achievement, causing the hashtag #BTSHOT100_28 to trend worldwide.
A big, big congrats to BTS for yet another history-making debut on the Billboard charts!
