Yesterday saw Jonghyun's funeral take place, where his friends, family, and SM Entertainment colleagues all attended. After the funeral, a number of the SHINee singer's friends and SM labelmates have shared their final farewells to him.
f(x)'s Amber shared a throwback selfie of herself and an eye-patch wearing Jonghyun, along with a heartfelt message to the singer.
Here's a translation (as per AllKpop) of Amber's message:
"Because of you, I was able to laugh. Because of your advice, I could dry my tears. Because of your courage, I could gain courage. When I was embarrassed, you didn't judge me. You tried your best to understand my imperfect Korean, and you embraced me. When people joked you and I were twins, I was honestly really proud because I wanted to become a great person like you. Thank you. I'm so thankful I was able to be your dongseng. I'll become an Amber who you can be proud of. Jjong oppa, you did well. I love you."
Girls' Generation's Sooyoung shared a photo of a sunset, along with a loving farewell message.
Here's a translation (as per AllKpop) of Sooyoung's message:
"I was so proud the voice I heard next door in the basement practice room became a voice that filled an entire concert stadium. You worked really hard. That day when you were sitting across from me, my eyes were on you for a long time. I didn't want to act like a sunbae who thought she knew everything, so I didn't really say anything to you... but I should have. I was always amazed by you, and I was also jealous and shy. You were precious to all of us, and it's regretful that you're gone. What more can I say. You did well, and you worked really hard."
Super Junior's Yesung said farewell in a simple yet heartfelt way by sharing a short snippet of Jonghyun's "Y Si Fuera Ella" from SHINee's first album THe SHINee World.
Lastly, BoA shared her own message to Jongyhun, writing how both of them related to each other regarding work and how wonderful of an artist he was.
Here's a translation (as per AllKpop) of BoA's message:
"To Jonghyun who always came to see me in the waiting room at every concert. Why did we always talk about work during our short meetings? Why did we only think about how we could better our work instead of wondering how we're both living? It's really tough after sending you off when I think of how lacking I was as a noona and sunbae to you. Today, I couldn't believe I was in the same place as you, but I couldn't see you. I wish you would've told me at least once. Still, I don't blame you. The beautiful lyrics and melodies you created will comfort a lot of people and remain in their memories. Jonghyun, who lived a short life but was a wonderful artist. I hope that you're only creating and singing music for yourself wherever you are. You worked hard, and you did well. 2017.12.18 I remember you."
