Who knew that so many professional figure skaters listen to K-pop?! Here are 13 athletes who are avid lovers and/or have incorporated it into their ice-skating routines.
1. Alex and Maia Shibutani
Brother-sister duo Alex and Maia Shibutani from the USA are not only Olympic medallists, they're also self-confessed A.R.M.Ys. They made personalised beanies to give to each member of BTS!
2. You Young
13-year-old South Korean figure skating champion You Young is a huge K-pop fan. She loves dancing on the ice to all her fave K-pop songs including Sunmi's "Heroine," G-Dragon's "Who You" and 2NE1's "I Am The Best." Former 2NE1 member CL even gave her a shout-out on Instagram #fangoals.
3. Evgenia Medvedeva
Another young rising star, Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva is a big fan of EXO and revealed she enjoys listening to their songs. She received a personally signed album from the band and was so happy that she likened it to winning a gold medal!
4. Misha Ge
Misha Ge is a figure skater from Uzbekistan who is known to be a dedicated K-pop fan and often incorporates his favourite tracks into routines. He has skated to heaps of K-pop songs including B.A.P's "Warrior," EXO's "Overdose," Winner's "I'm Young," BIGBANG's "Bang Bang Bang" and GD x Taeyang's "Good Boy."
5. Aleksandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin
Russian figure skating pair Aleksandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin showed off their appreciation for K-pop in their sexy ice dance routine to Trouble Maker's "Trouble Maker." They even incorporated some of the original saucy dance moves.
6. Yura Min and Alexander Gamelin
Another couple who have incorporated K-pop music into their routine are South Korean representative pair Yura Min and Alexander Gamelin. They mixed things up with a mashup of BIGBANG's "Bang Bang Bang" and 2NE1's "I Am The Best," along with a surprising costume reveal.
7. Rika Hongo
Japanese figure skater Rika Hongo brought the girl power with this amazing ice-skating routine to BLACKPINK's "Whistle" and "Boombayah." She nailed it!
8. Yuna Kim
Olympic gold medallist and ice-skating goddess Yuna Kim has danced to a variety of K-pop hits including Girls' Generation's "Run Devil Run" & "Gee," Miss A's "Bad Girl Good Girl" & "Breathe," and Wonder Girls' "Nobody."
9. Kim Jin-seo
South Korean national champion Kim Jin-seo has also danced to quite a few K-pop songs including EXO's "Growl," BIGBANG's "Fantastic Baby" and 2PM's "Hands Up." (Plus, he sorta looks like an idol himself.)
10. Shin Ji-hoon
When you have a love for both ice-skating and K-pop, why not do both? South Korean pro figure skater Shin Ji-hoon finished in the Top 6 of Kpop Star Season 2 and debuted as a singer under Cube Entertainment in 2013. Talk about being multi-talented!
