Yui Mizuno, better known as Yuimetal in the group BABYMETAL, is currently not performing on the group’s world tour according to a statement released by their American management company 5B Management. The statement goes on to say that she is still a member of BABYMETAL.

Alternative Press reported the news earlier today after reaching out to 5B Management. The full statement goes: “Yuimetal remains a member of the band, but she is not on this current U.S. tour. There is a new narrative for the future of the band which is currently evolving. The storyline has changed. This was the basis of the ‘Metal Resistance Episode 7: The Revelation’ video." They are referring to the below video, released on April 1.

SBS Popasia reached out to the group’s Japanese music label Toy’s Factory for comment. A representative from that label forwarded on an official English-language statement. The full statement is:

“As already announced on April 1st and May 1st, 2018, BABYMETAL’s METAL RESISTANCE EPISODE VII  as well as WORLD TOUR 2018 is the start of a new beginning and is scheduled to not follow the typical BABYMETAL style. Who, when, where, or how THE CHOSEN SEVEN will be presented will change based upon the concept. Please look forward to BABYMETAL’s new challenge for world domination.”

Despite both 5B Management and Amuse’s statements saying that the aforementioned YouTube video hinted at some sort of line-up change, BABYMETAL fans who attended the first show of their current U.S. tour in Kansas City on May 8 were surprised when Mizuno was not part of the performance. Many took to social media afterwards wondering where she was, even starting the hashtag #WhereisYUIMETAL.

Based on reports from tonight’s show in Austin, Texas, Mizuno was once again not present. Still, fans came out in force to support the band, and with confirmation that Mizuno wouldn’t be at the show, reaction on social media was slightly more reeled in.

Mizuno missed a show late last year due to health concerns. The band’s next show is tomorrow in Dallas.

Stay tuned for updates as we get them.
