It comes after she halted activities in July due to poor health

It's been confirmed that Jurina Matsui won't participate in AKB48's 53rd single, "Sentimental Train".

The AKB48 member was voted first in the AKB48 general election in May 2018, giving her the centre position for the song. However she halted activities in July due to her poor health, including dropping out of music survival show Produce 48.

Management had previously halted the production of the music video for "Sentimental Night" in the hopes Matsui would be able to film her parts later, but her health hasn't improved enough and the strict deadline for physical CD production means she couldn't make the deadline.

The group has been performing the song leaving the centre spot empty.

There are hopes that once Matsui is fully recovered, the music video will be reshot and the audio re-recorded to include her.

"Sentimental Train" will be released on September 19.
