J-pop girl group AKB48 have set a new record for themselves with their latest single release!
"Sentimental Train" has topped Japan's Oricon charts with first week sales reaching 1.45 million copies. These sales mean that AKB48 have now surpassed over 50 million singles sold across their career. It's a Japanese record as well as a record for the girl group, who became the first female artist in Japan to surpass 30 million units sold back in 2016.
"Sentimental Train" is AKB48's 40th No.1 single. They've announced that they'll release their 54th single "No Way Man" on November 28, and it will be the last single for Sakura Miyawaki, Nako Yabuki and Hitomi Honda before they commit to their IZ*ONE promotions.
Congrats AKB48 on this incredible achievement!
