The city of Niigata has cut ties with NGT48, as of March 29.
The J-pop idol group is based out of the city, but the city has announced that they will no longer include NGT48 in their PR beginning April 1.
The city made the decision due to ongoing assault scandal involving member Maho Yamaguchi, and the way in which management have handled the situation since Yamaguchi revealed the incident.
The governor of Niigata prefecture had already noted his desire to put all of NGT48's contracts with the city on hold while the scandal was in progression. The Minami ward of Niigata will also not renew its contracts with group members who are currently acting as ambassadors for the region.
Meanwhile, Yamaguchi recently called out the results of an investigation into her assault as 'lies', while NGT48's management denied that any other group members were involved in orchestrating the attack on the idol.
