EXO's D.O will be enlisting in the military soon.
According to Korean news outlet Sports Chosun, the singer and actor, real name Do Kyungsoo, will enlist as an active duty soldier on July 1. While under current military law D.O has until 2021 to enlist, he volunteered to enlist earlier after discussing it with SM Entertainment and his fellow EXO members.
D.O is the second member of EXO to join the military, following eldest member Xiumin who joined on May 7 and is currently serving as an active duty soldier.
D.O has been making his mark both as an EXO member and as an actor recently, with his first lead role in a K-drama 100 Days My Prince in 2018 being a ratings hit.
UPDATE: D.O has written a letter to fans on EXO's official fan club. In it he wrote:
"EXO-Ls, the sudden news must have been surprising for everyone, right? I wanted to first share the news (with you), so I have a heavy heart because I feel like it's a little late. I'm posting this letter because I wanted to let you know that as much as this decision was made after lots of consideration, I will return healthily and safely.
I sincerely thank EXO-Ls, who are always supportive, and I hope that everyone will always be healthy and have days that are filled with things that make you laugh. I will carefully serve and return to greet you all with a healthy image"
