It has been suspected since May 2019 that BTS had set a new record for sales in South Korea with Map of the Soul: Persona, and it's now been confirmed!

Billboard reported that Guinness World Records have confirmed that BTS' hit album Map of the Soul: Persona sold 3,399,302 copies as of May 2019, surpassing the previous record holder, Kim Gun Mo's 1995 album Wrongful Encounter which sold 3.3 million.

BTS are the only artist from this century to have sold over two million copies in South Korea, with their 2018 album Love Yourself: Answer now the seventh best-selling album of all time in the country, with 2.3m sales.

Another massive congratulations are in order to BTS!
