Former Wanna One member Lai Kuanlin has filed for termination of his exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment.
Since the filing was made public, Cube Entertainment responded in a press release stating there were no grounds for contract termination. Kuanlin's legal representatives have replied in a statement, saying that the idol had entered into an exclusive contract with Cube in July 2017, and in January 2018 the company sold his China management rights to a third party. Cube received an amount of money that was much larger than the down payment given to Kuanlin.
In the statement, lawyers said Kuanlin and his parents had not agreed to the contract, and that the idol found out about it in April 2019. On June 21 he sent his first certification of contents requesting that the company rectify the breach of contract.
According to Kuanlin's lawyers, changes were not made. Thus Kuanlin requested the termination of his contract on July 18 and filed to suspend his contract on July 22.
Kuanlin has since taken to his Instagram to reassure fans, asking them not to worry too much and that it will all work out.
