Korean actor Kang Ji Hwan has been officially charged for sexual assault by the prosecution.

On July 9, the actor was apprehended by police at his home on suspicions of sexual assault against two outsourced staff members, who went to his home after a company dinner to continue drinking. One victim said in her police statement that she woke up to find Kang Ji Hwan attempting to sexually assault the other woman, and believed she'd also been assaulted while unconscious due to the dishevelled state of her clothing.

Kang Ji Hwan issued an apology and admitted to the charges on July 15 in a statement through his legal representatives.

He has now been officially been criminally charged with quasi-rape and quasi-indecent acts of force. The next step will either be a trial or being sentenced by a judge, depending on whether the actor pleads guilty or not guilty.
