On September 1, K-pop girl group f(x) member and solo artist Amber Liu announced her departure from SM Entertainment.

The artist shared a post on her Instagram letting fans know that her contract had come to an end and that she'd chosen not to renew with the entertainment company. In her message she said: "I'd like to thank everyone who believed in me and have been patient with me all these years".

She also hinted at her solo plans saying, "I can't wait to show you what's in store in this next chapter of my life".

Amber debuted as a member of f(x) in September 2009, and made her solo debut in 2015 with the EP Beautiful. Since then she's become known as a solo artist, variety show personality and has modelled for sports brands.
