Taiwanese-Canadian actor and model Godfrey Gao has passed away at 35.

The actor was filming Chinese variety show Chase Me when he collapsed on-set. Further details regarding the circumstances of his collapse have not been revealed, though it is reported he was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital. Chase Me is based on physically competitive games.

A statement from his management agency Jetsta confirmed the news saying, "Following three hours of rescue efforts, he unfortunately left us. We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept".

Godfrey Gao was the first Asian model for Louis Vuitton, and became well-known as an actor for his lead role in Chinese drama Remembering Lichuan. He also appeared in Hollywood and Chinese blockbusters, including 2013's The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Our condolences to his loved ones.
