These Asian pop music documentaries cover everything from J-pop stadium tours to solo star struggles, with everything from docu-series to full-blown concert films to check out.

No matter your taste, we reckon there's at least one doco here you'll enjoy watching!

1. Kwon Ji Yong ACT III: MOTTE

This 2018 documentary goes behind the making of BIGBANG leader G-DRAGON's solo world tour. His most personal solo album so far, the experience was trying for his mental and physical strength, with a cinematic three-part stage that travelled the world.

Get an insight into his life behind the curtain, and hear from his famous friends along with family, in a doco that gives us a peek at what it's like to be a K-pop star.

2. BTS: Burn The Stage

There's more than one BTS docu-series to watch, with Burn The Stage to Bring The Soul both available online, as well as the movie-length versions. The biggest K-pop group in the world, the series gives a look into what it's like to be far from home, spreading your music globally and at the same time finding your feet as a person.

Personal interviews, stunning stage footage, and some dramatic moments make for riveting viewing.

3. Arashi's Diary Voyage

One of J-pop's biggest groups, Arashi, announced their hiatus from December 31, 2020. Before that, they've given fans this doco-series, that charts their journey to stardom and brings into sharp contrast their concerns as they head towards a break, after more than 20 years at the top.

Get a look at what it's like behind the scenes for a group planning their hiatus, while reminiscing with all the amazing concert footage and fun music videos!

4. Hikaru Utada: Laughter In The Dark

This concert film is more what you'd expect from a music documentary. It's mainly footage from Hikaru Utada's final concert on the Laughter In The Dark tour, which took place at Makuhari Messe. It's also interlaced with some backstage concert commentary and interview footage with the star.

If you want to turn your home into a concert experience, dim the lights and hold out your camera light for this one!

5. Mayday Life

This is a whole other kind of music doco experience with Taiwanese band Mayday incorporating a whole fictional storyline to their concert experience! Five fading superheroes are summoned to save the world from an alien that hates sound, in this live performance doco that's intercut with sci-fi stories created by award-winning director Bo Huang.

The concert footage is so impeccable, you'll feel like you're on stage with the band!
