Sixteen-year-old Californian girl Gina came out to her family at Disneyland over the weekend, making for a memorable coming out at the happiest place on Earth.
Talking to BuzzFeed News, Gina said that she'd been weighing up fun ways to come out to her family, because she's "not the type of person to have a deep, sit-down conversation".
Eventually, she settled on a plan she called "perfect": holding up a rainbow-coloured sign that read "I'M GAY!" while riding the Splash Mountain ride.
"I wanted to tell them in a lighthearted and fun way,” she said, adding: “I love funny ride photos so I figured I could make the sign just in case I decided to go for it, and I did".
Describing her family's reaction as "so positive", Gina says her mother, who was on the ride with her, was the first to find out, immediately texting the photo to Gina's father and brother.
“My dad and brother said they were already 70% sure I was gay but my mom had no idea,” Gina reveals. “But I knew they would be super accepting.”
Posting the photo to Twitter, Gina's coming out story immediately went viral, being retweeted more than 5,000 times.
“I never expected it to blow up like this,” Gina says. “People have responded saying I’ve inspired them to do the same thing, which I think is the coolest part of it all.”
