17-year-old Hunger Games actress and activist Amandla Stenberg has released a new short film called Blue Girls Burn Fast.

The 20-minute feature stars Stenberg's friends Leeza and Julie. Leeza plays Andy, a foster girl going through a rough patch, while Julie plays her mysterious friend-neighbour-love-interest.

Posting a trailer to the film on Instagram, Stenberg said that she wrote, directed, shot and edited the film herself, and that it was part of her application to New York University.

"It's very personal to my heart," she wrote, adding "I hope you enjoy!"
