The world is full of creative ways to ask your boo to prom. Some of them are adorable:

And others... don't work out quite so well:

If one thing's for sure, it's a pretty important moment in the life of an American teen, and in a new viral video, Ari shows us how to do promposals right.

Standing in the centre of his classroom, Ari addresses his classmates around him, telling them: “These past four years have been the best of my life".

"There’s no other way to put it," he says, circling the room. "I’ve made so many friends and had such an incredible time that I will never forget what experiences I’ve had here."

"This has become an incredible place for me to really be my home away from home," he shares as he reads from his phone. "I have never felt so included, so safe, so accepted for who I am here."

"On that note, some people have been asking me why I’m so well-dressed. Well, I spent four years in the closet," he reveals, pausing as the room absorbs the information they've been given. "I might as well have been doing something other than learning to read in the dark," he grins.

"For those of you who might not know, for those of whom it’s not obvious," he continues, "I’m not really one for labels, but I can say with absolute certainty that I’m not what you would call straight, heterosexual, whatever…” he finishes, as the whole room erupts loudly with cheers and claps. "WE LOVE YOU!" yells one guy in the crowd.

"On an unrelated note," Ari says, swiveling on his heel."Hey, Mark, would you do me the honor as a leader, as a friend, to go to prom with me?"

Mark, tearing up, nods an excited "yes", hops up, and embraces Ari. Presumably, they lived happily ever after together, or are at least having a great time planning their prom together.
