Currently expecting his first child with girlfriend Laura Gallagher, Russell Brand recently told Jonathan Ross that he has no plans to "impose" any ideas about gender onto his child.

“Let the child grow up and be whatever the hell it is, never tell it there is such a concept,” he said, of his approach to parenting and gender.

“We don’t know the gender, I may not even ever impose gender upon it," he added.

Because who wouldn't want to be queen?

In order to prepare for the arrival of baby Brand - who he mentioned may be named ‘Jesus Three’ - Russell said that he's been doing his homework.

“I read a different book every week and I read one on preparation for fatherhood to mentally prepare me for it,” he said, adding: “I don’t know that it has prepared me for it. I’ve painted the room, I’ve done the things that you’re supposed to do, I’ve accepted the idea that that person will be more important than me.”

Rethinking how we represent transgender children in the media
Media representations have an important role to play in promoting trans visibility, but they can also hinder the progression of rights through misinformation or by promoting stereotypes and discrimination.

For the time being, though, Russ is just enjoying the newfound monogamy.

“I am enjoying monogamy because there is a baby coming, one of them sperm finally made it, after I’d released so many, so abundantly, indiscriminate," he said.
