Thousands of queer women on Twitter have been using the hashtag #IssaGayGirl to celebrate their sexuality.

The hashtag went viral after Twitter user @eland_V from Florida posted: "I’m starting a new thing @ me the cutest selfies you have with the hashtag #issagaygirl and I will try to retweet as many as I can".

Women from around the world used the #IssaGayGirl to hit back at homophobia and express their sexuality with pride, with some even using it as an opportunity to publicly come out.
