In the latest episode of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, the queens were challenged to compete in an Andy Warhol Ball where they were expected to make a Warhol-esque soup can that embodied their personal brand, as well as delivering a high-fashion, Studio 54 look.
Despite being the eternal queens of 'Safe', Trixie Mattel and Bebe Zahara Benet were deemed the winners of the challenge, and Bebe became the $10,000 winner of the accompanying Lipsync for your Legacy, which gave her the ability to eliminate one of her fellow queens.
Out of the bottom two, Shangela and Aja, Bebe chose to eliminate the latter, and because of this decision, Bebe is now receiving overwhelming hate and racist abuse via social media.
Comments have included, “Hope you die n***a ass bitch” and “Suck my vagina dirty n****r". People have also been leaving snake emojis on Bebe's Instagram photos, as well as monkey emojis, although the majority of the comments have since been deleted.
Bebe responded to the backlash by graciously quoting Andy Warhol on Twitter:
Aja has also spoken out in support of Bebe, telling followers that abuse of any kind directed towards her sisters would not be tolerated:
This is not the first time a Person of Colour has experienced backlash and racist abuse after appearing on the show. Last year, Nina Bonina Brown received a large amount of abuse after winning a controversial lipsync against fan favourite, Valentina. During Season 7, RuPaul even spoke out after eliminated queen Jasmine Masters received heavy racist abuse via social media.
