Former pop musician and songwriter Teddy Geiger has made her red carpet debut, six months after announcing her transition on social media.

Known for her 2006 hit single "For You I Will (Confidence)", which won her the MTV Australia Award for Best Breakthrough, Geiger has recently been spending time writing music with pop superstar Shawn Mendes in Los Angeles.

Geiger first revealed her transition when questioned by a fan about her changing appearance.

"Because [you] asked nicely... I am transitioning," she replied.

She continued: "I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it's given me the courage to start the process. I feel like the next step is to tell all y'all. So here it goes. Love it or hate this is who I have been for a looooong time."

Mendes has previously said he was "grateful" to work with Geiger during her transition, telling Billboard: “I’m so grateful to be going through this process with her because I’m learning so much from it.”

According to Geiger's website, she is working on new music to be released soon.
