Actor Charlize Theron has appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to promote her new movie, Atomic Blonde.

In the new film based on the graphic novel The Coldest City, Theron plays a bisexual MI6 agent who’s sent to Berlin during the cold war to investigate a murder.

During the interview, Theron is asked by a call-in viewer, “Why was it so important for your Atomic Blonde character to be bisexual?”

Theron pauses for a moment then shrugs, “Why not?”

“It’s so strange when we talk so much about it [bisexuality]. It should be normalised by now.

“It’s something that I feel is not represented enough in cinema and I feel like when you make movies, if you’re gonna hold that mirror up and reflect society, then you should reflect society.”

Cohen then questions if Theron has ever had a sexual relationship with a woman, asking the actor if she’s “ever swum in the lady pond”.

“Ooh! When I was young, yes,” Theron replies.

“When you’re young you’re just kind of exploring it all. But it was pretty clear that I really like dudes.”

The film—directed by stuntman David Leitch—also stars James McAvoy, John Goodman and Sofia Boutella and brings viewers into the neon drenched, synth-pop heavy world of 1989 Berlin, just before the Wall came down.
