It will be the first Ballon d’Or ceremony in two years after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and anticipation to see which players will be named the best in the world.

Australian Sam Kerr has been nominated in the 20-strong shortlist for the Women’s Ballon d’Or, alongside other superstars of the Women’s game such as Vivianne Miedema, Lieke Maartens, Samantha Mewis and Chelsea teammate Fran Kirby.
