With Easter just around the corner, it's understandable that you'd get excited about a great deal on Easter eggs, because hey, who doesn't love a bargain? But it's not the sales that have everyone talking about Kmart's latest catalogue (although, hey, big Cadbury eggs for $7.50 is nothing to sneeze at).

Kmart's latest catalogue features children with disabilities modeling, for the first time in the company's history.

The catalogue has caused a stir on social media, with happy customers taking to Twitter to congratulate the company on its choice.

And Kmart's social media manager probably had the easiest work day ever, as people flooded their feed with positive feedback.

"Your new catalogue needs to be recognised as a true game changer when it comes to diversity," wrote one customer.

"I would like to congratulate Kmart for having a young boy in a walking frame in their Easter catalogue. A big step towards disability education and recognition, I'd like to see more of it. Well done Kmart," said another.

Others were grateful. Jason Hameister wrote: "I cannot express enough gratitude to you for your choice of models in your latest catalogue. Your small gesture of acceptance and inclusion creates small steps towards more public acceptance. You may have no real idea of exactly how much this means to people like myself dealing with disability everyday but I'll have you know that this is a massive deal for us. Thank you so much!!!"

Kmart told BuzzFeed Australia that the decision was "an extension of [their] broader and very important focus on improving diversity within [their] business and truly representing [their] team, customers and communities that [they] operate in and are part of".

The company made the choice after hearing suggestions from company Starting With Julius, a casting company "committed to promoting the inclusion of people with disability in Australian advertising, media and beyond".

Bronwyn, the mother of Cooper, the model in the walking frame, described the shoot to BuzzFeed as "respectful and engaging," saying "they spoke to Cooper just as they would any other 11-year-old."

And Cooper was thrilled to be a part of it.

"He felt extremely welcome and proud. He still couldn’t really believe he was in the catalogue! He was so excited to see himself represent Kmart and represent kids who have a disability. He is very proud of who he is including the fact he has Cerebral Palsy," Bronwyn said.
