Australian basketball great Lauren Jackson still holds out hope of playing at the Rio Olympics but will wait until March to decide whether to push on.

The 34-year-old has been struggling to overcome an ongoing knee injury, and only last month spent time in hospital for an infection in her knee joint.

Jackson, to be farewelled by the Canberra Capitals on Friday, said if her knee responds well to treatment she will keep going with the support of Basketball Australia and Opals coach Brendan Joyce.
