The Australian Women’s Ice Hockey team to compete at the Division 2 Group World Championships in Spain next week has been named.
Sharna Godfrey and Alivia Basso bolster the side, two of five top point scorers this season. The newcomers will assist veterans Kath McOnie and Shona Powell to lead in attack.
The Aussies will be looking to challenge for a medal, after finishing in fifth place in a tight group last year, two points behind third-place Spain.
Goaltender Michelle Coonan returns (90.52% SVS on 116 shots) to the squad and will be led by experienced coach Lindsay McAlpine.
The Australia team is:
Alivia Del Basso, Christine Cockerell, Michelle Coonan, Kelly Costa, Sharnita Crompton, Sharna Godfrey, Remi Harvey, Sari Lehmann, Georgia Moore, Rylie Padjen, Lucy Parrington, Courtney Poole, Madison Poole, Shona Powell, Kate Tihema, Claudia Tom, Tess Reynolds, Kristelle Vanderwolf, Steph Newmark, Kath McOnie
The tournament starts on February 29.
