A tenacious, determined and smiley Sally Fitzgibbons - as we know her - turned up to the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach ready to make amends for her horror start to the world surf league tour.

She was eliminated by wildcard entrant Bronte Macauley in Round 2 at the Roxy Pro at Snapper Rocks in the first event this year.

At Bells though, Fitzgibbons came back with a vengeance, only to be pipped in the final by American Courtney Conlogue. She took home the silverware needed in pursuit of her maiden world championship title in 2016.

2011 has been Fitzgibbons' best year to date, world title Runner-up and three women's world tour wins.

Here's how it went down at Bellls.
