School holidays are a challenge for many parents.

However, there are plenty of free activities near you if you know where to look.

As for those who cannot afford to take time off work, holiday care programs ranging from traditional vacation care, tennis, swimming to arts could be the answer.

Being a mother of four with a wide age gap, family blogger Seana Smith, who runs the Hello Sydney Kids website, says her first option would always be to take her children outdoors during the holidays.

She recommends visiting Australia’s well-quipped playgrounds, some with water-play features for the hotter months, and taking a longer trip to get close to nature if possible.
