Mahatma Gandhi was born Oct. 2, 1869, and today we are marking his 146th birth anniversary.
While India’s Father of the Nation was born into a wealthy family in the Gujarat region of western India and would later go on to become a successful lawyer in England, at very young age he left a career in law to join India's fight for freeedom. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi led the early civil rights movement in South Africa and soon moved to India to play a pivotal role in its freedom struggle.
Even 70 years after his assassination, he remains a source of strength.
For many people, Gandhi lives on through his writing, teachings and sage advice, which he imparted on the world throughout his life.
