Novak Djokovic is on his way to Melbourne! Serbian tennis star will play at the Australian Open 2018, believes Melborune tournament director Craig Tiley. He is also confident that Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams will overcome injury concerns and show up on the court at Melbourne Park.
"Novak has signed to play the Tie Break Tens and he's also got some specific practice matches lined up at the Kooyong Classic", Tiley said.
Head of the Australian Open confirmed that he spoke with Djokovic in regards to six times champions participation in Melbourne.
"Novak has already got every hour of the day planned from when he arrives until the start of the Open. So he'll be ready. The same is with Rafa Nadal, he'll will be ready," believes Craig Tiley.
Despite doubts and injury concerns, Djokovic will travel to Melbourne and take part at the Kooyong Classic (10/12 January) only days before the start of AO.
That has been confirmed on his official website. It's also quoted that Novak will also be making his appearance at the Tie Break Tens, an exhibion tennis event in Melbourne.
On the other side, Andy Murray confirmed on Thursday that he won't be ready for AO. The Briton has withdrawn from the Australian Open due to an ongoing hip problem.
