Luderitz Rock Lobster - The season only lasts six months, so the people from Luderitz had better make the most of the situation and earn as much as possible because for the rest of the year, there'll be no work. The fishing boats stay off shore for several weeks at the time. Supply boats regularly come to deliver what is needed, but also to bring back the catch that needs to arrive fresh at the factory. Life is not very comfortable on board the fishing boats but the sailors focus on their jobs. Robert is a Dutchman who arrived in Luderitz twenty years ago, as work was hard to get in his own country. Lost Worlds: I00 years before Christopher Columbus sailed to America, Emperor Yongle ordered that a giant fleet leave China on a voyage of discovery. Its commander, Zheng He, oversaw the building of 300 junks in a dry dock, an idea which Europeans did not discover until over a century later. The Chinese boats were four times larger than Columbus's ship, and navigated with the help of star charts, and a compass. The fleet had animal transporters, farm ships, and water carriers to ensure fresh supplies during their time at sea. Soybean sprouts were grown on the farm ships to prevent the sailors from dying of scurvy. Scurvy was still a scourge for European seafarers until the end of the eighteenth century. Several doctors from the UK carry out the largest medical research project ever to come to the Himalayas, according to the narrator. They intend to take samples of their own blood and do research re the oxygen content at Mt Everest's extreme altitude conditions. There are four camps, and the last one, camp 4, is at an altitude of 7,950 metres. The lowest camp is at Lukla at 2,840 metres and two hundred volunteers have arrived to be tested for the effect of altitude sickness. It is found that some people use oxygen more efficiently than others. Research is to reveal the reasons for the varying ability for oxygen efficiency. Movie: In 1943, Sophie, her brother Hans, and fellow students of the University of Munich formed the resistance group White Rose. Their mission was to educate Munich about the cruel, barbaric acts of Adolf Hitler, who continued to wage war across Europe. On a dangerous mission to distribute pamphlets on campus, Sophie and her brother are arrested. There follow the six days of imprisonment from Sophie's point of view, including the interrogation, trial and sentence leading ultimately to her execution. With the full wrath of the Gestapo pressing down on her, Sophie is unwavering in her belief that Germany's freedoms can only come with Hitler's removal. Saturday: (Cidade Dos Homens) - This nine-part spin-off drama series was created by the directing team behind the Academy Award nominated film City of God (Fernando Meirelles, The Constant Gardener, and Kátia Lund). It follows two teenagers, Acerola (Douglas Silva, City of God) and Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha, City of God), through their adventures, struggles and aspirations as they grow up in a Rio de Janeiro favela. Saturday means dance night and Acerola enters a group dance competition to woo Cristiane. Laranjinha just wants to beat his own record. He aims to kiss three different girls during the night and take a fourth home. It's not plain sailing for either of them, however.
