This Living Black special will visit four of the communities with high Aboriginal populations which were hit by Cyclone Marcia in February, where the damage bill is around 100 million dollars. The program investigates why people in Millingimbi were quite literally turned away from proper shelter due to a lack of resources and how the community also didn't have an official emergency plan. Emergency services were slow to respond, so remote communities were left with no communications, power or water for long periods of time. Plus Karla Grant follows a mother of 12 who left her house fearing for the safety of her children, as she returns to her house to find severe damage and her home and belongings looted.
