
SBS Radio nominated for a swag of international awards

SBS Radio has been nominated for several prestigious international broadcasting awards.
A special program looking at the Stolen Generation produced by SBS Radio’s Alchemy team has been nominated for a New York Festivals Radio Broadcasting Award.
Nominated in the Social Issues category, The Stolen Generation – Alchemy Special beat out a hosat of entries to make it to the list of final nominees. The program, broadcast during the national apology will now be assessed by an international jury of top industry professionals before the awards night in June.
SBS Radio’s World View program has also been nominated for two awards in the 9th Annual Iranian Radio Festival.
Lords of the Ring: A history of Aboriginal boxing has been nominated in the documentary section and a two part feature on Islam in Greece has been nominated in the podcast category.
World View has also been officially selected for the 2008 Festival of the European Broadcasting Union. SBS Radio’s work will be showcased alongside other European broadcasters including the BBC, Irish Broadcaster RTÁÆ and Danish radio.
“This is testament to the quality of programming being produced by SBS Radio,” SBS Director of Radio Paula Masselos said.
“I wish all the nominees the very best of luck and hope to be congratulating them on winning these awards in the very near future.”
