NEW EXECUTIVE PRODUCER FOR WORLD NEWS AUSTRALIA
SBS
today announced the appointment of Jim Carroll as Executive Producer of its
flagship evening news service, World News Australia.
Carroll
brings a wealth of experience in news and current affairs across Australia’s
commercial television and radio networks. He is a recognised industry leader in
delivery of news, current affairs, documentary and sports programming.
Carroll
served for 11 years at Network Ten where he led the news and public affairs
divisions until 2011, re-establishing Ten’s reputation as a quality news and
current affairs broadcaster culminating in three prestigious Walkley Award
nominations that year, an unprecedented achievement for the Network.
He
led Ten’s coverage of major domestic and international events including the
Beaconsfield mine disaster, Black Saturday bushfires, Queensland floods and the
Japanese Tsunami.
Previously Carroll was a
senior news and current affairs executive at the Nine and Seven Networks.
He
has produced award winning, news, current affairs and documentary-based
programs and helped guide the careers of some of Australia’s most prominent
journalists and presenters.
Since
departing Ten Carroll has consulted to major media organisations and served as
Chief Executive Officer of MS Australia, Australia’s largest organisation
dedicated to health and support services for people with multiple sclerosis and
their carers.

Carroll will also continue
in his voluntary roles as a director of the Australia Science Media Centre and
a member of the Australia Day Council NSW. He starts with SBS on 18 February 2013.
