News Release

SBS has appointed Peter Andrews to the position of Head of Network Programming.

Andrews has 18 years’ experience in television programming with Australia’s major commercial broadcasters.

Since 2002, Andrews was Network Program Manager for Network TEN Australia in Sydney and then Melbourne. He negotiated large-scale domestic and international acquisitions to grow the network, develop content, and build its ratings share. Andrews was instrumental in the development and programming of TEN’s second digital free-to-air channel, Eleven, and also led the team that re-engineered ONE as a male appeal digital channel.

At TEN, Andrews was a key part of the team responsible for the acquisition and strategic direction of programs including Big Brother, Offspring, Secret Life of Us, Masterchef Australia, and Dexter.

Prior to TEN, Andrews worked for the Seven Network from 1995 to 2002, as Sydney Program Manager, and Deputy Program Manager, responsible for local Programming operations and promotions.

SBS Director of Television & Online Content Tony Iffland said: “Peter brings extensive skills and expertise in programing to SBS and has built excellent relationships with the major studios at both a domestic and international level. He has a great passion for storytelling and is a perfect fit for SBS as we continue to build our reputation for content that provokes, inspires, surprises and delights our audiences across the platforms they are choosing to use.”

On his appointment Andrews said: “The chance to lead the SBS Programming team is a rare opportunity in broadcast television. I am so passionate about SBS’s vision and delighted to be joining a team committed to delivering its audiences meaningful and innovative programs informed by its unique Charter and purpose.”

Andrews replaces Jane Roscoe, who has relocated to the United Kingdom to take up the position of SBS Head of International Content. Andrews will be responsible for driving the Programming strategies for SBS ONE and SBS 2, and will start with SBS in August.
