All of the team at National Indigenous Television (NITV), and from across the SBS network, are deeply saddened by the passing of Boon Wurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung, Woiwurrung ,Yorta Yorta Senior Elder, and legendary actor, musician and activist, Uncle Jack Charles.

An unmistakable voice, an infectious smile, and undeniable charisma that made him one of Australia’s most beloved actors, he is an icon of stage and screen who leaves a lasting impact on our industry, and all who he entertained.

He was a trailblazer and a champion for First Nations peoples, and a much-loved member of the extended NITV family, supporting and working with the channel from its beginnings.

We extend our love and support to his family.

May he rest peacefully now with the Ancestors in the Dreamtime.
