Theo Dorizac

Theo was appointed the General Counsel in 2020 and is the Director of the Legal Division at SBS, leading the Legal, Rights Management, Archives and Business Information Governance teams.

Theo has over 20 years’ media industry experience, collaborating with and advising media organisations, producers and journalists to navigate legal, editorial and ethical considerations. Theo began his legal career at a law firm in Aotearoa, New Zealand, before moving in-house in London, UK to join the legal and compliance team at Channel 4 Television.  In 2013, Theo moved to Australia, working as a Corporate Counsel at Nine Entertainment, and joined SBS in 2014.

As a member of the SBS Executive team, Theo is the Co-Chair of the SBS Reconciliation Action Plan Committee, and Co-Exec Sponsor of the Pride & Allies and SBS Green employee groups. Outside of SBS, Theo is also Chair of the Antenna Documentary Film Institute, and a Trustee of the Civic Place Trust, which supports the promotion of arts and culture in the Willoughby City Council area.

Theo led the SBS Legal team to be recognised as the ‘Sport & Entertainment Team of the Year’ and he also was awarded ‘Wellness Initiative of the Year’ at the Lawyers Weekly Corporate Counsel Awards 2023.
