Dr Andrew Lu AM

Appointed to the SBS Board on 16 February 2023, Dr Andrew Lu AM is a respected dispute resolution lawyer and mediator with substantial senior executive and governance experience across the private, public and nonprofit sectors. For 21 years he practised as a solicitor and insurance law partner in large commercial firms. He is now President of the Mental Health Tribunal of Western Australia, Chair of PICA - Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, and a Non-Executive Director of the Melbourne International Film Festival, Australian Youth Orchestra, and the National Gallery of Australia Foundation. He has served on the WA State Administrative Tribunal, the Reproductive Technology Council, the Fulbright National Selection Committee, and on many boards including Jigsaw, the Arts Law Centre of Australia, Chamber of Arts and Culture, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, AGWA Foundation, and Australian Baroque.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Laws from the University of New England, a Doctor of Juridical Science from the Australian National University, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Curtin University. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Academy of Law, ANZIIF, and the Governance Institute. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2021 for services to the Arts and to the Law.

Andrew is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee.
