Joseph Maxwell
Head of SBS Unscripted
Joseph joined SBS in January 2012 as Commissioning Editor before becoming Head of Documentaries in 2016, and then Head of Unscripted for SBS in 2022. His slate of shows at SBS ranges from returning series such as Who Do You Think You Are?, Filthy Rich and Homeless and Every Family Has a Secret, to landmark documentary series such as Addicted Australia, See What You Made Me Do and the recent SBS series, The Australian Wars. He has also overseen the launch of a new single documentary strand Australia Uncovered, now in its second season, and from which a number of films have been recognised with critical acclaim and major industry awards, including Strong Female Lead and Our African Roots.
Prior to SBS, Joseph developed, directed and produced high end, prime time documentaries for most of the major broadcasters in the United Kingdom.
