This resource provides teachers and students with the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the South Asian cultural celebration Diwali/Deepavali. It includes:
- Information on understanding cultural knowledge around Diwali/Deepavali: the celebration, cultures, countries and those who celebrate;
- Downloadable worksheets for collaborative and individual activities from Foundation to Year 8;
- A video step-by-step guide to making your own kolam/rangoli (available in 8 languages, including: Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Bangla, Nepali and English);
- A visually engaging Diwali/Deepavali infographic for classroom display;
- A step-by-step guide to create your own diya (pronounced dee-aa);
- An adapted sweet dessert recipe appropriate for the classroom; and
- Further resources to extend your learners.
