Australian football fever is sweeping the nation, with more than 11.6 million Australians already tuning into SBS’s FIFA World Cup 2026™ coverage during the opening nine days of the tournament.

This Friday, classrooms across Australia have the chance to become front-row seats for a national event.

The Socceroos take on Paraguay at 12 noon AEST / 11:30am ACST / 10am AWST this Friday, 26 June in a match that could prove decisive in determining whether Australia advances to the knockout stages.

Host an SBS Watch Party at your School

For students, watching live sport on the world stage offers much more than entertainment.

SBS Learn’s The World Game resource includes activities designed around watching live – before, during and after the match. It tackles key themes around diversity, inclusion and teamwork, using the world game to explore what connects us as global citizens.

Schools can use the occasion to:

  • Celebrate national pride and community spirit
  • Explore global cultures and international competition
  • Discuss teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship
  • Engage students in real world events as they happen
  • Create memorable shared experiences across year levels

Print and display this poster around your school to spread the word.

A note for schools on advertising:

If watching on broadcast TV, no alcohol or gambling advertising will air during the match. We recommend starting your viewing from 11:55am AEST to avoid gambling ads in the pre-game show.

If watching on SBS On Demand, account holders can opt out of gambling or alcohol advertising through their ad preferences (though not both simultaneously). You can manage your ad preferences here.

During breaks, SBS may air PG-rated program promotions. Teachers should use their discretion based on their year group.
