    The Man Who Jumped

    Disturbing and brilliant account of grave injustice and political callousness and telling exposure of our limp democracy. How did we let this happen without media and public protest? Why did journalists not kick down the gates to do their reporting job and keep us informed. Where were the whistle blowers? On this Australia day, may we reflect on justice for the people escaping persecution who pose no threat to our national security , who come on leaky boats.They are welcome in my Australia.

    Once Upon A Time in Cabramatta

    An absolute eye-opener. As an Australian born Vietnamese, my social identity was often tarnished by the perilous stigma for the Vietnamese community that arose from the streets of Cabramatta during 80s and 90s. Striving to work hard for my family and the country and having the pleasure of meeting Vietnamese people who are most genuine, kind, hard-working, I felt that this reputation was unjust . This documentary has really hit home. Both my parents had immigrated to Australia as refugees. I was blessed to have the luxury of growing up in a wholesome household, a rich education, for which I am extremely thankful for. I now understand the peoples’ struggle to assimilate and adapt to a new country without any proper social structures in place, the clash between traditional values and a new world, the fight for self identity and belonging . I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the Vietnamese community and our multicultural society!

    The Tall Man

    Viewed the documentary last night, a couple of things that I noted. This went to court and Hurley innocent of charges. I also noticed they interviewed Marandoo Yanner and at that point SBS lost all credibility. No doubt if this goes to court again Palm Island may get the result it wants. If I were a policeman in Queensland I would be very dissapointed in the State Government and the last place I would want to be posted would be Palm Island (the most dangerous place in Queensland to live)
