Aussie docs pull SXSW nominations
The SXSW Interactive Awards Finalists have been announced and Aussie projects, including two by SBS, have a strong showing.
SBS project Goa Hippy Tribe is a finalist in the Film/TV category - see here for a more in-depth overview. The Gradual Demise of Phillipa Finch, by the ABC, is also a finalist in this category. Dragon Children, also produced by SBS, is a finalist in the Educational Resource category.
The fantastic Big Stories, Small Towns is a finalist in the Community category. Big Stories launched at AIDC last year and has one of the classiest interfaces I’ve seen.
A recent favourite of mine, the Canadian NFB-created Highrise: One Millionth Tower, is a finalist in the Activism category. For a dose of whimsy, check out also the NFB’s fun project Bla Bla, finalist in the Art category.
