Here's your first look at 'Red Dog' sequel, 'Blue Dog'

The follow-up to the hit 2011 Oz film is in the works.

Production has begun on Blue Dog in the Pilbara, Western Australia from the same team behind Red Dog, including director Kriv Stenders and producer Nelson Woss.

Veteran Australian actors Bryan Brown and John Jarratt are joined by newcomer Levi Miller and UK actor Jason Isaacs, in the '60s-set story of Mick (Miller) and his dog, on a cattle station in the Pilbara. 

“It’s such a thrill and a privilege to be able to return to the much loved story world of Red Dog," said Stenders in a statement. "Daniel Taplitz has written a beautifully heart-warming screenplay that is both an origin story and a stand alone movie in own right."

Roadshow Films distributed and executively produced the 2011 hit Red Dog and is returning to distribute Blue Dog in 2016, in conjunction with newly-formed Good Dog Distribution.
