Aliens review: Breathlessly exciting from start to finish

'Kramer vs. Kramer' in space.

It's not just a slam bang action thriller. It has moments of tenderness and it has interesting characters about whose fate you really care. Sigourney Weaver relishes her role as Ripley, one of the most endearing and gutsy heroins in all cinema.

Director James Cameron skillfully combines non-stop action, state-of-the-art special effects and a grim sense of humour, all to great effect.

Despite two hours twenty minutes length, Aliens is breathlessly exciting from start to finish. Maybe not as poetic as the first film sometimes was, but resoundingly successful in scaring the pants off you.

Margaret: I felt as though I was nailed to the seat for the last two hours of the film, I couldn't move, it was one of those "hot sweaty palms" movies. I found it absolutely fantastic, I loved it.
