Members of Melbourne's Somali community have begun developing what's believed to be the first ever free Somali-English dictionary app for smartphones and tablets.
The initiative is part of what's known as The Somali Language preservation project by the Burji Arts organisation, and is being assisted by the University of Melbourne.
Project Co-ordinator Nadia Faragaab told Sonja Heydeman, the app will become a vital language resource not just in Australia, but throughout the world.
