Queensland tots born on the same day as the future monarch will have the occasion commemorated with a boxed medallion.

Premier Campbell Newman says the memento is one of a few ways Queenslanders will be celebrating the arrival of the Prince of Cambridge.

The medallions, for anyone born on July 22 in the state, will be struck with the royal baby's hour of birth.

Commemorative birth certificates for Queensland babies born in 2013 will also be made available, while landmarks, including Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge, will be lit up in blue.

Mr Newman said a major civic building could also be named after the royal bub or his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
