Two hundred iconic artworks that illustrate our nation's history have been displayed in an exhibition in London.
Nearly 150 artists created 'Australia', the largest international outing of our most prized collection.
The arrival of the First Fleet is depicted not only through the eyes of the artists on board, but also through the eyes of those who have been telling Australia's story for 60,000 years.
"To see all these works together is just a wonderful experience," says Anna Gray from the National Gallery of Australia.
"Of course there are gaps on the wall in galleries around Australia, but it is so important that Australian art should be seen at its best."
For the first time, Australian art is inclusive, incorporating Indigenous art and artists to represent Australia in London.
What were for decades considered artifacts are now rightfully celebrated as works of art.
Franchesca Cubillo from the National Gallery of Australia says, '"To have Indigenous art and Indigenous artists represented in this exhibition in Lodon, I believe, is a real turning point".
