An Austrian-based group of Catholic priests is widening its campaign to change the church's rules.
The radical church reform movement, known as the Priest's Initiative, is demanding women be allowed into the priesthood, priests be allowed to marry and for divorced people to be able to take Holy Communion.
About 15 per cent of Austrian priests have joined the movement and a meeting of Catholic priests from all over the world in Austria this week aims to expand it further.
But Central European correspondent Kerry Skyring told Ildi Amon the Initiative's founder, Helmut Schuller, has encountered some opposition in other countries.
